BackgroundAn $86.2 million expansion began construction in 2001 and took less than a year to complete. This expansion includes an Exposition Hall, Lobby, Equine Arena, Equine Barn, Connector Spine, and Rotunda. Major upgrades were done to the Sale Arena, Dormitories, Meeting Rooms, and Cafeteria and Banquet Hall.
The Complex is host to over 200 events per year and is staffed 365 days a year, 24 hours a day. As one of the most utilized facilities in the nation, the Complex generates business that amounts to over 480 million dollars of economic impact to the capital region annually and creates over 4,200 full or part time jobs.
The new Equine Arena joins the existing large arena to establish the Farm Show Complex as a leader facility for cattle and equine expositions on the North American continent. The Arena has a floor that measures approximately 300 feet long and 150 feet wide, with accompanying seating for 1,800 spectators.
The ProjectConrad enterprises, inc. fabricated many of the accessories for the lobby and the new Equine Arena for the Harrisburg Equestrian Center expansion project. As you approach the building, you notice a unique aluminum flagpole. Conrad helped design and fabricated the unit. Once inside the sprawling main lobby, you will notice a wide staircase heading to the main Exposition Hall. Conrad created all the railings for the stairway. Heading back to the new Equine Arena, tiered seating for 1,800 spectators borders both sides of the new 39,200 square feet arena. Conrad fabricated all the seating railings.
Project ChallengeConrad helped design and fabricate the flagpole unit carefully considering the existing exterior architecture of the existing equestrian center.
